Cangshu is written during Li Zhi’s later years and also his representativepublication, which reflects the overall judgment to the literati and officialdom beforeMing dynasty. Li Zhi inherits and develops the theory of Wang Yangming’sphilosophy, under the circumstances of economic factors appearing new changes, hedaringly puts forward the evaluation criterion which is not agreed to orthodoxmorality. For monarchs and literati and officialdom, Li Zhi uses his new points andgets the new evaluation which replace the sweeping conclusions. He shows positivemindset to go into the society and industriously corrects Ming dynasty literati andofficialdom’s conservative and stubborn viewpoints. He puts forward evaluationstandard to literati and officialdom, like sizing up the situation, not having empty talk,self-discipline and stabilizing oters. Li Zhi had never tried to reason things outwithout specific historical environment, all of his evaluation for historical figures arescattered in theory on history, therefore, to put forward a new theory system is veryhard. Li Zhi had not completely betrayed Confucianism, many of his behavior andspeech, had revealed that he is still a Confucian. He asked the scholar-bureaucrat totimely adapt, so that the function of morality which can steady society would notbe rigid.
