Since the1990s, Chinese characters have received unprecedented attention andconcern than ever, and an upsurge of study about Chinese characters was set off in thefield of teaching Chinese as a second language. There have been the restudy ofChinese characters, the attention of teaching Chinese characters for foreigner, and thediscussion of teaching Chinese characters from the aspects of the foreign students’cognition psychology and cognitive laws. At the same time, the textbooks of teachingChinese characters for foreigner also got the favor, during this period, some textbooksof teaching Chinese characters for foreigner were published gradually. So, there weresome people begun to focus on the textbooks. In spite of this, the research about thisfield was very few. However, most of the scholars just did statistical analysis aboutone book or had a contrastive analysis of several textbooks’ contents in their studies,on the basis, they could use a reference substance to do a simple analysis, and finallyput forward some suggestions and ideas in textbooks writing generally. Although theteaching of Chinese characters for foreigner and its textbooks once were paid a lot ofattention seemingly, the situation was not very satisfying actually, and it was mainlyreflected in the quantity and quality of the papers which had published in the corejournals of the teaching Chinese as a foreign language in recent years. Therefore, inthis paper, in order to provide the basis and the reference as reasonable as possible tothe characters’ textbooks writing, we will analysis two primary textbooks of teachingChinese characters for foreigner and put forward the opinions on the rationality of thecharacters’ textbooks writing and expect to bring more help to the teaching Chinesecharacters for foreigner eventually.Based on collected and intensively read the former research about the teachingChinese characters for foreigner, the characters’ textbooks, we must adhere to the"character is foundational" theory as the main basis, and analysis the teaching objects,targets, characters, structures, strokes, components, assembly units, knowledge,methods of learning Chinese characters, practice and recurrence of characters aboutLiu Yanmei’s "The textbook for primary foreign students to study Chinese charactersrapidly" and Li Rui’s "The textbook for primary foreign students to study Chinesecharacters easily and breezily". Then detect the results by Xu Caihua’s "The class AChinese characters’ learning difficulty of pattern, pronunciation and meaning","The frequency table of Chinese characters in Chinese language database" and Jiang An’s"The system table of evaluated norm about the primary textbooks of teaching Chinesecharacter for foreigner", and make an scientific, objective, actual and comprehensiveevaluation about the two textbooks as far as possible. We also will analysis thephysical truth of the two textbooks through the way of questionnaire subjectively. Theexcellent aspects in the textbooks will be popularized, and the parts which are likelyto have some problems will be completed. In the end, we will put forward somescientific, reasonable suggestions about the writing about the primary textbooks ofChinese characters for foreigner as detailed as possible.
