Bei Hu Lu(《北户录》)is composed in the late Tang Dynasty by Duan Gong-lu (段公路), mainly depicting Lingnan customs and cultures. Its content is broad and profound, which appeals to many references and allusions. The book is of great historic and literature value.This thesis consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the versions and reviews of the book, and then analyzes the knowledge layout in the light of reference of Duan Gong-lu, providing a discussion of the relationship between You Yang Za Zu(《酉阳杂俎》)、Ling Biao LuYi(《岭表录异》)and Bei Hu Lu, investigating the philters of charming(媚药) and the olive recorded in the book as well as the social meaning of author’s hands-on experience.Part two proofreads Bei Hu Lu, under the master copy of the Shi Wan Juan Lou Cong Shu(《十万卷楼丛书》),with the help of the Wen Yuan Ge Si Ku Quan Shu(《文渊阁四库全书》),the Wen Jin Ge Si Ku Quan Shu(《文津阁四库全书》)and many books.
