Like other nationalities spread of civilization in Tibet was early; there is around four thousand yearsof history since the creation of Tibetan alphabet. Along with the creation of Tibetan alphabet, exchange andintroduction of other nationalities’ culture and knowledge was initiated. Simultaneously,terms of otherlanguages were also introduced to Tibet, and after some time, terms that were borrowed from otherlanguages were widespread and became a whole with original Tibetan terms. In this fashion, terms ofTibetan language were enriched. Especially at the beginning of this era when science and technology isadvanced, exchange and interaction between nationalities and countries became more frequent andextensive. Notably lots of new terms were introduced and a new academic field of lexicology was emerged.Some modern Tibetan scholars have indefatigably introduced this new academic field of lexicology to Tibetand studied the concept, category, characteristics, vocabulary formation, and lexical meaning of Tibetanvocabulary to define a complete study of Tibetan lexicology. This paper focuses on several differentformations of Tibetan vocabulary in five chapters; first chapter discusses the formation Tibetan archaicterms and reuse of archaic vocabulary, second chapter discusses cause, formation, and function of borrowedvocabulary, third chapter discusses cause, formation, and function of honorific vocabulary, fourth chapterdiscusses how metonyms are introduced to Tibetan language, its formation and function, and lastly the fifthchapter discuses the reason some Tibetan vocabularies are driven from sentences, its methodology andfunction.
