Tan Zheng - Ru And His Literary Studies

Tan Zhengbi is an accomplished expert of literature research in the twentieth centrury. He has made great contributions on the research of literature history, female literature, Chinese ancient novels, Chinese-opera, Tanci and so on. The article mainly discusses his contributions from five chapters:the first chapter discusses Tan Zhengbi’s academic life and the scholars aroud him. Tan Zhengbi’s academic life is closely linked with the twentieth centrury’s academic thought. he associated with Lu Xun, Zhao Jingshen, Hu Shiying and other literature experts, and they made mutual exchange and common progress in the academic field; The second chapter discusses Tan Zhengbi’s research of literature history and female literature. His research has its own distinctive features, and it will be discussed in detail; The third chapter discusses Tan Zhengbi’s research of ancient novels. It consists of two aspects:novel history study and research of novel. The fourth chapter discusses Tan Zhengbi’s research of Chinese-opera. It includes research of Song-za-ju, Jin-yuan-ben, Song yuan xi wen, dramatist and children opera; The fourth chapter discusses Tan Zhengbi’s research of shuo-chang literature. It includes research of Tan-ci, Mu-yu-ge and Chao-zhou-ge. The article puts Tan Zhengbi’s research into the backgrouds of twentieth century’s research of Chinese literature, compared with other experts of literature research, and tries to position his value of academic research.
