A Study Of Xiang Shengmo 's Painting Style

Xiang Shengmo is in the middle of Ming and Qing Dynasty.Xiang Yuanbian is his grandfather,he was a great collector of Ming Dynasty.In the background of the change of dynasties,Xiang Shengmo experienced the ruin of the state and the family ruined.His life was full of ups and downs. His paintings were absorbed the essence of song and Yuan dynasty and good at hundreds of long.But he also has his own original. In the era of the end Ming Dynasty,the atmosphere of art circles was full of competition, Genre Painting was colorful.Xiang Shengmo did not follow the crowd, but reflected his own personality and keeping his place. The family of Xiang was rich in collection.Family members were proficiently in painting, Xiang Shengmo nurtured since childhood by his family,and he was in contact with artists,collectors,such as Dong Qichang, Chen Jiru,Li Rihua.These provide a good condition for him to studied painting.Xiang Shengmo learned in such favorable conditions,he was forming a unique style of painting,and with his family members co-founded the "Jiaxing school".This paper attempts to study the characteristics,causes and the influence of Xiang Shengmo’s style comprehensive,through Xiang Shengmo’s paintings,the collection of family and his social activities.
