The Asymmetric phenomenon of "da/xiao group" antonyms has always been a hot topic of ontology in modern Chinese. At the same time, it should be a focus in the study of teaching Chinese as a second language. However, the "da/xiao group" antonyms are mostly focus on ontology research, and it has disconnected with teaching for a long time. So in this paper, basic on the predecessors’ research results we study it from three parts.First of all, this paper studies the asymmetric phenomenon of "da/xiao group" antonyms. We choose ten groups of "da/xiao group" antonyms which Shen Jiaxuan listed in his book as our research object, and then we describe and investigate their meanings, the word-formation level and the syntactic level. After that we found the "big type" words are unmarked and the "small type" words are marked. Both in the aspect of word-formation level and syntactic level, most of the "big type" words use wider than the "small type" words.Secondly, this paper uses the method of questionnaire survey to understand the situation of foreign students learning "da/xiao group" antonyms. We asked30questions in three major to study whether foreign students grasp the "da/xiao group" antonyms and there usages or not. We discovered that foreign students’grasp of the "big type" words is better than "little type" words. And it’s easier for students to learn "da/xiao group" antonyms than their usages. When students use these words, they’re easy to produce errors by analogy, when they meet similar items, they make more errors. Finally, in the part of teaching "da/xiao group" antonyms, the paper put forward some suggestions for teaching them and compiling the textbooks. In the aspect of teaching, we thought we should use different methods when we meet different situations. We should use contrast, analogy, specific teaching, context, antisense network and communicative teaching methods to teach "da/xiao group" antonyms. In the compiling the textbooks aspect, after investigating three kinds of textbooks, we think the textbooks should increase the income of the vocabulary, enhance the meaning of clarity, attach great importance to the progressive of easy and hard, strengthen the pertinence of design practice.
