Popular art is called pop art for short, also known as the New Realism. It rises and develops in the1950s and1960s. Pop art represents pop culture. Initially germinated in UK, reached its peak in the United States. Pop art has many artistic features such as popularity, reality, vanguard, embodiment etc. It reflects cultural view, consumption view and rebellious aesthetic taste of the "younger generation" growing up after the Second World War. Pop art is of great influence to contemporary art. The emergence of pop art, broke the boundaries between elegance and vulgar, making artistic creation popular and daily.Among numerous pop artists, Andy Warhol was the most influential and representative one. Also known as a crossover artist. He is not only a printmaker, a photographer, a filmmaker, he even wrote rock and roll. Throughout Andy Warhol’s artwork, photography plays an indispensable role. Photography and Andy Warhol’s artwork are closely related.In pop art field where Andy Warhol accomplishes most, photography becomes the carrier of his creation. The artist integrates photographic elements into screen printing, using "mechanical copying" as artistic expression, breaking the stereotype of printmaking, making display function of art exceeds that of worship, realizing the crossover of art creation.In this digital era, photography art gradually has a strong dependence of art technology.Dependence on photographic equipment reduces the requirements of photographer’s artistic appreciation and art taste, making a lot of photographs lacking artistry and creator’s emotion flooding. How to turn a "picture" into photography art? Inspired by Andy Warhol, photography art also needs crossover. That means by method such as video post-production, we can blend in "people’s trace".The article is divided into three parts. It begins with the embodiment of’mechanical copying" in Andy Warhol’s artwork, photography woking as an important carrier of his pop artwork and his understanding and practice on photography, exploring the role of photography in Andy Warhol’s artwork. Secondly, combined with Andy Warhol’s pop artwork, it studied the specific application of photography in his work. Eventually, I integrate theory with photography practice, talking about my three thoughts which led by Andy Warhol’s pop artwork: reliance on technology and equipment can be a work of art photography; processing of photographic works of artistic photography is not contrary to the truth; photographic art should have a "human traces."...
