As a pioneer in the development of contemporary art, Pop Art has started to shine in the art world from 1960 s. In the sixties of the 20 th century, the Pop Art movement was arising. Andy Warhol pushed the Pop Art movement into historical climax of contemporary art. Thus, he known as the Pope of “Pop Art”. Andy Warhol inherited Duchamp’s “ready-made” concept of art, he took advantage of new technology and took the concept of commercial art into “the Art World”. It broken the boundaries of elegant culture and popular culture. The emerging of Andy Warhol’s Pop Art, which represents the gradual decline of modern art and the rise of contemporary art. This thesis mainly conducts the research of Andy Warhol’s Pop Art from two aspects: one is that the social environment and transferring of Art Center, which gave birth to the Pop Art; the second is that Warhol’s art steering, and the feature of Andy Warhol’s Pop Art research:First, the industry of the United States had strongly developed and the social economy begun to gradually recover after World War II. With the recovery of American economy, the prosperity of the consumer market also brought commercial atmosphere to mass culture. And same time, the Art Center had begun to transfer from Paris to the United States. These laid a good foundation for the prosperity of Pop Art in the United States.Second, Warhol made a living on the illustration for advertising design in New York. After he got a place, he began to enter the field of art. He tried to broker through art exhibitions in the gallery of the way of understanding art dealers, artists, museum directors, art critic to open its doors to the “art”. In the process of Warhol’s art turn, his work reflects the transition from modern art to contemporary art trajectory. Warhol’s Pop Art although heralded the end of modern art, the art works still reflects some of the features of the modern art. Therefore, Warhol’s Pop Art is not fractural development in the process, but is the inheritance of a connecting link between the preceding and the following transition. Warhol’s Pop Art works follow the “art is life”, “art as experience” concept, representing the “appropriation”, “repeat” artistic characteristics, which is the revolt to the traditional art initiated.The artistic practice of Andy Warhol has a significant role for the shaping of the “art world” that consist of such part like museum, gallery, art criticism, which has an important influence on contemporary art.
