College period is important for the formation of personality, but also critical for the development of interpersonal relationship, at present, college students have a large number of interpersonal problems, such as weak interpersonal relationships, social anxiety, interpersonal barriers, These problems are harmful to the psychological development of Chinese college students. What are the basic characteristics of social anxiety in Chinese college students? How do the adult attachment style and self-esteem affect their social anxiety? This article will study the basic situation of the adult attachment styles, self-esteem and social anxiety in Chinese college students, and explore the relationship among the three, and investigate the potential mechanisms that adult attachment style and self-esteem affect social anxiety. The findings of characteristics and influencing factors of social anxiety about college students are valuable for improving the quality of life of college students and promoting their physical and mental health. We also hope to provide some theoretical reference for social anxiety of college students through this study, and to provide some advice and help for the psychological counseling and practical work. In this study, undergraduates for the test, a questionnaire survey on adult attachment(ECR), self-esteem(SES) and social anxiety(IAS) of the relationship among the three. On survey data, we tested difference in demographic variables about adult attachment self-esteem and social anxiety of the samples. About the adult attachment, self-esteem and social anxiety, the correlation analysis, regression analysis are also did to study the intrinsic relationship between the three. The conclusion of the study are as follows:(1) In this study, the different types of adult attachment in accordance with the proportion of students in descending order are:fear type (39.0%)> security type (23.7%)> indifference type (19.7%)> focus type (17.6%). This result is different from the findings from abroad study, but similar with domestic findings;(2) Attachment avoidance, attachment anxiety and social anxiety among three factors pairwise showed a significant positive correlation, while the score and the scores of social anxiety and self-esteem are the two dimensions of adult attachment was a significant negative correlation;(3) In the scores attachment avoidance dimension,24-25age group also scored significantly higher than the other three groups, there was no significant difference among the other groups.(4) In different age groups in social anxiety score,24-25age group scored significantly higher than the other three groups, but there was no significant difference among the other groups did.(5) The score of social anxiety in different attachment types of were significantly different: fear type> focus type, indifferent type> security type, that fear type scores highest, the safe type scores lowest, and there is no significant difference between focus and indifference type.(6) Different types of attachment showed significant differences on the score of self-esteem: the self-esteem of fear type is significantly lower than the other three attachment types, the self-esteem of the safe type is significantly higher than the focus type, and no significant differences of self-esteem were showed between the safe type and indifference type, also between the indifference type and the focus type.(7) Among the attachment style, self-esteem and social anxiety, there are potential relationships, self-esteem is mediating variable which affects each of attachment anxiety and social anxiety and the relationship between attachment avoidance and social anxiety.
