Clinical Study On Dispelling Wind,moistening Dryness And Astringing Lung To Stop Cough In Treating CVA Of Children

Objective:This study is based on the principle of dispelling wind,moistening dryness and astringing lung to stop cough,to observe the clinical effect of Ganke-Jiejing recipe in treating cough variant asthma(CVA) of children,who belong to the syndrome type of wind retention in lung,to valuate the efficacy and safety of this treatment on children with CVA,to provide a certain basis for clinical application,to provide a new therapeutic approach for children with CVA.Method:The study enrolled 65 children with cough variant asthma,who conform to the diagnostic criteria of cough variant asthma in Western Medicine and the syndrome type of wind retention in lung in Traditional Chinese Medicine.They were randomly divided into two groups,33 children in treatment group and 32 children in control group.Treatment group was treated with the oral medication of Ganke-Jiejing recipe,Control group received the oral medication of Feilike Mixture combined with Montelukast tablets.The time of observation and treatment was two weeks.The clinical symptoms and signs were recorded and scored before and after treatment.After the treatment,the symptoms and signs of the two groups were compared before and after treatment.The two groups were also compared at the clinical effect.At last,the Ganke-Jiejing recipe was evaluated at the clinical efficacy and safety in treating children with CVA.Result:1.Clinical curative effect comparison at TCM Syndromes:There are 33 children in the control group,in which the total effective rate is 87.88%,the markedly effective rate is 33.33% after treatment.There are 32 children in the treatment group,in which the total effective rate is 93.75%,the markedly effective rate is 59.38%.Compared the markedly effective rate between the two groups,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05). Compared the total effective rate between the two groups,the difference is not statistically significant(P>0.05).Compared the efficacy between the two groups,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).The above data shows that,after treatment the total effective rate of the two groups has no difference,they are about the same;the two groups differ markedly in the effective rate,the treatment group is higher than the control group;there are differences in the overall clinical efficacy between the two groups,the treatment group is superior than the control group.The results indicate that,in treating of children with CVA,Ganke-Jiejing recipe is the same as Feilike Mixture combined with Montelukast tablets in the total effective rate,but has more advantages in the markedly effective rate and the overall clinical efficacy than the latter.2.Symptom scores comparison:After treatment,the treatment group and the control group both reduce in single points of main symptoms and secondary symptoms,total score of main symptoms,secondary symptoms and accompanied symptoms,in which both groups have statistically significant differences between before and after the treatment(P<0.01).These suggest that,Ganke-Jiejing recipe and Feilike Mixture combined with Montelukast tablets both have significant improvements on the frequency,degree and nature of cough,also have alleviating effects on these secondary symptoms(dry or itchy throat,red throat,gasp for breath,expectoration) and accompanied symptoms(sneezing, nasal congestion,runny nose,poor appetite,stool,urine,tongue picture).Compared improvement on the frequency,degree of cough between the two groups,the difference is statistically significant(P <0.05),the treatment group is superior than the control group,which indicates that Ganke-Jiejing recipe has better effects on the frequency and degree of cough in treating children with CVA than Feilike Mixture combined with Montelukast tablets.Compared the improvement about single secondary symptom,Ganke-Jiejing recipe has better effects on dry or itchy throat than Feilike Mixture combined with Montelukast tablets.3.No significant adverse reactions occurred during treatment in both groups.Conclusion:1.Ganke-Jiejing recipe has good clinical efficacy in treating cough variant asthma of children belonging to the syndrome type of wind retention in lung,can reduce the frequency of cough and relieve the degree and nature of cough,and have significantly improvement on the other clinical manifestations,such as dry or itchy throat,red throat,gasp for breath,expectoration.This recipe is safe in clinical application,and has no significant side effects.2.By contrast with Feilike Mixture combined with Montelukast tablets in treating cough variant asthma of children belonging to the syndrome type of wind retention in lung,Ganke-Jiejing recipe has more advantages on improving the overall clinical efficacy,mitigating the frequency and degree of cough,and relieving dry or itchy throat.3.Dispelling wind,moistening dryness and astringing lung to stop cough is an effective therapeutic principle in treating CVA of children belonging to the syndrome type of wind retention in lung,and it should be widely applied in clinical practice.
