Objective To compare the result of automated breast volume scanner (ABVS), common ultrasound (US) and mammography (MG) in diagnosis of breast lesions. To evaluate the clinical value of ABVS in diagnosing breast lesions. Methods 138 women patients with 170 breast lesions were identified by ABVS, US and MG with the standard of pathology. Calculate the diagnostic efficiency of ABVS, US, MG, ABVS combined with US, ABVS combined with MG and the combination of three examinations.Results1.The detection rate of ABVS, US and MG were 99%(168/170),94%(160/170), and 72% (123/170).The detection rate of ABVS were higher than that of US and MG (x2=4-90,41.33, P<0.05).2.The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy rate of ABVS were 98%,76%,89%, respectively; which of common ultrasound were 90%,71%,82%, respectively; which of MG were 73%, 78%,75%, respectively;which of ABVS combined with US were 99%,79%,91%, respectively; which of ABVS combined with MG were 98%,78%,90%, respectively; which of the combination of three examinations were 97%,81%,91%.3.The sensitivity and accuracy rate of ABVS for diagnosing breast lesions were significantly higher than those of US (x2=4.90,4.65, P<0.05) and MG (x2=22.32,12.76, P<0.05).4.The sensitivity and accuracy rate of ABVS combined with US for diagnosing breast lesions were significantly higher than those of US (x2=7.11,10.32, P<0.05) and MG (x2=25.04,17.82, P<0.05).5.The sensitivity and accuracy rate of ABVS combined with MG for diagnosing breast lesions were significantly higher than those of MG (x2=24.04,15.36, P<0.05) and US (x2=4-90,5.33, P<0.05).6.The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy rate of the combination of three examinations for diagnosing breast lesions were significantly higher than those of US (x2=7.11,5.10,14.06, P<0.05). The sensitivity and accuracy rate of the combination of three examinations for diagnosing breast lesions were significantly higher than those of MG (x2=25.04,20.10, P<0.05).7.There was no significant difference among ABVS combined US, ABVS combined MG and the combination of three examinations in sensitivity, specificity and accuracy rate for diagnosing breast lesions (P>0.05).S.The area under the ROC curve of ABVS, US and MG were 0.946,0.842 and 0.756, respectively; which of ABVS combined with US, ABVS combined with MG and the combination of three examinations were 0.955,,0.955 and 0.964.9.The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy rate of retraction phenomenon in coronal plane were 60%,100% and 75%.10.The microcalcifications detection rate of ABVS and US were 95%(59/62) and 90% (59/62), and there was no significant difference between them in diagnosing microcalcifications (x2==0.80,P>0.05).Conclusion ABVS has a higher sensitivity and accuracy rate than those of US and MG in the diagnosing breast lesions, and it has a effective clinical value. ABVS combined with US, ABVS combined with MG, and the combination of three examinations can improve the accuracy of diagnosis all.
