The wide popularization and the rapid development of internet provide strong power to streaming media services. Streaming media services are more and more popular. Streaming media technology is widely used in internet multimedia press issue, on-line living broadcast, electronic commerce, video order program, long distance education, network broadcasting station, real time video reference etc. Streaming media is changing human's production and life style.Based on real-time transport protocol, recent streaming media technology implements real-time character. After several to more than ten seconds delay, the media information on serve side, for example images and sounds, will recur on browser side. Media play on serve side is almost synchronous with which on browser side. Therefore, a retransmission function is absent in streaming media application. There isn't effective method to manage those lost media data groupings, which couldn't be reconstructed. So it is hardly to be accepted by people with the quality of audio and video when network condition gets bad.Real-time transport protocol is analyzed in this paper. Some questions related to real-time transport are studied. These questions are multicast, real-time transport, real-time transport control, resource reservation and error correction coding technologies etc. Through these studies above, a real-time transport model with retransmission-error correction is provided. This transport model improves forward error correction-coding technology with adding a retransmission function in it. This model bases on both resource reservation protocol and hybrid error control. Using this model, the transport method of streaming media is better than former, someretransmissions to those lost media data groupings are allowed to renew all of original information. So, both real-time character and reliable character is provided in the services of streaming media. Finally, the experiment by network simulation software shows that the transport model and method has certain advantages and practical value.
