Developments in modern telecommunications are proceeding along broadband, intelligent, personal and integrated services digital network (B-ISDN). Therefore, the multimedia services (voice, data, video, etc, also called integrated services) should be provided in the third generation mobile communication systems. ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) is a good solution for multimedia transmission and switching in the wireless network.This dissertation to wireless ATM network and its error correction scheme has already conducted the research. According to the multimedia service type difference in the wireless ATM network, we propose the corresponding error correction plan: When the multimedia service having the strict delay request is transmitted, we use the Forward Error Corretion technology; When the multimedia service not having the strict delay request is transmitted, we use the Hybrid Error correction scheme. (FEC+ARQ+Interleaver).This article consists of five chapters. Firstly, in chapter 1, we briefly describe the wireless ATM technique and its evolution, as well as our focus in this article. In chapter 2, we briefly describe the basic principle of ATM network and some essential technologies of wireless ATM network. In chapter 3, we introduce several commonly used error correction mode and its principle. In chapter 4, we mainly introduce the Forward Error Correction. In chapter 5, we propose and analyze the Hybrid error correction plan (FEC+ARQ+Interleaver).We finally have carried on the summary to the full text work.
