In the tradition production flow of woven fabric industry, trying weaving is the very important link to validate if the woven pattern and structure design is correct, and if the product accord with the clients' requests. In many instances, trying weaving if needed to go on repeatedly, it will waste a great deal of human and material resources. The computer imitation of the structure and pattern of woven fabric can greatly save production become and improve production efficiency, resolve :he problem of resources wasting .Along with the popularization and development of computer technique, requirement of production, exhibition and teaching, more and more people attach importance to the computer imitation of the structure and pattern of woven fabric .Contemporary, amusement domains ex. game, movie etc. are growing vigorously, there are more and more demands, require higher and higher the pattern imitation of woven fabric. The research result of this subject can be used to the field of virtual reality.The thesis focused on such research focuses and gain contributions as follows:The 3D simulation of yarnsThe simulation of yarns is the foundation of the pattern simulation of woven fabric. The cross section of the same kind of yarns is the same. So we put forward the 3D rendering of yarns based on the cross section slice. We regard a single crosssection of yarn's basic primitive of rendering. We can get several yarns with different parameters and path by a series of rotation and displacement operations. We need adequacy enough spots to render yarns with different path, because the input data is the protuberant spots of yarns .By using B-spline interpolation, we render every yarn based on a sequence of rotated cross sections. We also discuss how to render the material of yarns, ex. furring , and get expected resultsThe new data structure of woven fabricWe put forward a new data structure of woven fabric. In order to get the correct and real simulation of woven structure, accommodate varying level of detail, and facilitate the woven fabric design.The 3D simulation of the structure and pattern of woven fabricWe implement the 3D imitation of the structure and pattern based on our new data structure of woven fabric. To improve the efficiency, we only render single fiber yarns to show the structure when rendering the structure of woven fabric. The 3D pattern simulation of woven fabric can accommodate varying level of detail, and get good results. We use Display List of OpenGL to improve our arithmetic. The using of image processing improve the rendering results.
