The Research On Web Services-based Co-built And Shared Digital Libraries

Along with the development and prevalent of information technology such as computer and network technology, digital library is also receiving his era of boom. Almost all colleges and academic schools, pubic libraries and information institution have built or are buiding their digital libraries. Research about theory or practices of digital library is also without number.After upsurge of closing door and building digital library on one's own, a man of insight realizes those solely built digital libraries have gone to "isolated information islands" which will lead to repeated construction of low-level and waste of information resources, therefore co-buiding and co-sharing digital library is a necessarity and uptrend, researches and practices about it have early been started overseas such as well-known OCLC, OhioLink, etc. China has gradually attached importance to co-buiding and co-sharing of digital library dispite a little late. Chinese Academic Digital Library & Information System (CADLIS), Chinese Digital Library Project and National Information Resource Sharing Project (NIRSP) are tipical ensamples in this way.No matter in architecture, function or services, the digital library of co-buiding and sharing (it will be called co-buidlt and shared digital library or CBSDL in the following) must have its characteristics. The second chapter attempts to anatomize the architecture of co-buidlt and shared digital library baesd on CADLIS and NIRSP.Because the construction and applicatin of CBSDL are all under distributed and different structural environment, CBSDL will face many difficulties such as platform,resources integration, services intergration and so on. The newest Web Services is just concept and technology system for this kind of environment.Applying the idea and technology system of Web Services, you can simplify problems above. So the paper puts forward the universal architecture of Web Services-based CBSDL, and realizes a simple web services-based bibliography database of knowledge management.The paper includes five chapters: The first chapter simply dissertates the digital library and its domestic condition of co-buidlding and sharing. The following chapter anatomises the architecture of CBSDL baesd on examples of CADLIS and NIRSP, and brings forward an architecture model of CBSDL. It's important to the paper. The third chapter discusses the technology system of Web Services including SOAP, UDDI, WSDL, etc. The architecture of web services-based CBSDL is presented in the fourth chapter, aditionally establishes a retrieve web service and realizes a simple bibliography database of knowledge management based on the web service. The fourth chapter is most important chapter. The fifth chapter lists primary programing and output interfaces of the bibliography database. At the conclusion part you can see the summary and the prospect of the whole paper.Several research methods have been adopted in this paper such as tipical analysis approach, induction and deduction, case method, diagram method, etc. All paper includes 38765 words, and there are 67 references, 30 charts within it.
