Abstract/Summary:
This paper starts with the basis characteristic and function of remote sensing and GIS technologies, then represents how and why to make use of remote sensing and GIS technologies in the research of non-point source pollution of water environment. By taking three research examples, the principium and methods in the application of remote sensing and GIS technologies in the monitoring, modeling and controlling of non-point source pollution are respectively analyzed, and some measures to settle existing problems are offered. In the example of non-point source pollution of soil and water loss type in Pingjiang County, these methods are emphasized: TM remote sensing image's pretreatment and interpretation, extracting intensity information of water-soil loss by quantitative remote sensing method, and extracting land-use type information by hierarchical classifying. Through correlation analysis of water-soil loss together with land-use type and correlation analysis of water-soil loss together with DEM, the rules and causes of water-soil loss in Pingjiang County are discovered, and the sensitivity subareas and control measures are also offered. In the example of AGNPS as non-point source pollution model's application, three types of the coupling between GIS and non-point source pollution model are expounded. Embedded type of GIS-AGNPS and the way of extracting AGNPS parameters by remote sensing and GIS are emphasized. Furthermore, the impact of uncertainty in model parameters on AGNPS is studied. In the example of landscape management for the control of non-point source pollution in Changsha City, the principals of landscape management are discussed, and several methods and rules are expatiated. After analyzing the types and characters of ecological landscape, the important subareas and measures of landscape management in Changsha City are planned.
