With the electric power development and the ongoing reconstruction of the electronic-power net, the requirement of auto-managing system of electronic power is increasing. The existing systems have low automation or have not good performance of anti-disturbing, so it is urging to improve the performance of the system.The object of this thesis is an automatic meter reading system based on HFC net, and the system is used to attain the automation. We use the HFC net to improve the ability of anti-disturbing and reliability of the transmission of the data. The dissertation places the emphasis on the design and development of the collector hardware and software. It discusses deeply the network programming technology, serial communication programming technology. In the dissertation, the author describes the principle of intelligent electric meter, the data transmission protocol between the collector and the master computer, and so on. About the managing software of the system, there is some discussion in this thesis.The collector is based on microprocessor, connecting into the network of Internet. It has the functions as long-distance automatic collecting, network and serial communication. The development of the collector is actually to develop an embedded-Ethernet system.The system that we designed was proved to be having a good anti-disturbing ability and the signal can be transmitted as far as we expected. So it meets the demand of AMRS. The strong point of this system is: low cost, precise measuring, stable working, and so on. It will boost the AMR efficiently and has an enormous application prospect.
