System simulation technology is developing with advancement of computer technology and simulation theory. As for the process of steel rolling , there are many simulation research in single, part and static aspect at domestic and overseas steel corporations. Now the simulation of steel rolling is whole and dynamic. The dynamic simulation system of the cold continuous rolling process is the whole process of cold continuous rolling.The three-dimensional animation subsystem of Cold Continuums Tandem Mill communicates with other systems to receive animation data, and displays the current simulation state of 2030mm Five Stand Continuums Tandem Mill and the manufacture process by three-dimensional animation. The operators and others can monitor the real scene through three-dimensional animation computer. As to the communication among three-dimensional animation subsystem and other subsystems, the connection between the three-dimensional animation subsystem and the MATRIXx simulation system is finished based on SOCKET, the interfaces of the communication interface between Java and C is developed in Windows NT. As to the internal communication of the three-dimensional animation subsystem, the communication between Flash and JavaServlet is implemented. The display and control of the animation is realized by JavaServlet programming language and Flash as the three-dimensional animation making tools. The designing idea based on Object Oriented Programming idea is adopted to make and develop the three-dimensional animation of the manufacture process. After the analyse of the whole rolling scene, the partitions of the scene are: the global picture of system, the picture of unwinder, the picture of loop and so on, which are controlled separately. The system has been gone into use, and run normally.In this paper, the design and implementation of the system are described in detail, including general design, scene design, control design, communication interface design, database structure design and so on. The paper firstly introduces the function modules of MATRIXx software. Secondly, it classifies and generalizes the system designs and the function modules designs of three-dimensional animation subsystem. It also introduces the system software structure and the realization of the modules. It emphasizes on the design and the realization of the communication function modules and the three-dimensional animation displaying modules of the subsystem. From the point of view of the realization, the realization of the subsystem is intensively discussed. Finally, the debug result and the conclusion are presented.
