A Preliminary Research On The Museum Visitors Of China

The research on the museum visitors referred to the component, mentality, need, activity and the effected ways of visitors. It will be great help to the design of museum exhibitions and works if museums could fully consider the visitors characteristics of visiting activities and their feelings. That will also do benefit to the services offered by the museums. The research on the museum visitors can divided into three types, ie. the investigation, the valuation and the research of the visitors. This paper analyzed the components of visitors in our country based on the data collected from investigation of museum visitors and pointed out the problems reflected by the data. The first part of the paper was the achievement in the field of visitor research. The second part introduced the methods of research, including the rules of SPSS and SAS. The third part used the data from Forbidden city, Lvshun Museum, Shaanxi History Museum, Henan Museum, Liaoning Museum, Nanjing Museum, Handan Museum, Museum of the Mausoleun of the Nanyue King etc. and concluded the basic composition of museum visitors in our country, and then analyzed the data to see if the characteristics of visitors effected on their behavior, and how the effect appeared. The fourth part concluded the phenomena and problems based on the data, for example the problems reflected by the visitors` education level, how they got the information about museums, their sex, age, living place, their purpose, their valuation and so on. The fifth part recommended that museums need to improve their services and propagation. The last part pointed out the creation and limitation of this paper, and prospected the further research. There were many tables attached and I wish that will be helpful to others that interested in this research.
