With the increasing development of Internet applications, high-speed core router has become the researching focus of the current network area. Effective and stable routing protocol is an important factor of high-speed core router performance. As a main protocol of IGP, IS-IS protocol nowadays has deployed widely in the network. On account of few domestic router manufacturers supporting IS-IS protocol, the implementation of IS-IS protocol on high-speed core router is very significant. Otherwise, with the popular of wireless network, the extension of the existing fixed routing protocol in supporting mobile network has become an important tendency of network development.The thesis starts with a systematic discussion on mechanism of IS-IS protocol. Then it introduces an implementation of IS-IS routing protocol on "GF 8516" core-router. Finally, the thesis presents a new design of IS-IS for extending the routing protocol to address the Manet.The primary contributions include:1. On the base of comparing and analyzing the nRose2 and the ZERBA platform. The thesis introduces an overall design of IS-IS protocol implementation, discuss some correlative key technology problems. On the implementation of exterior model, generally it takes the CLI model, Sending/receiveing model, IP routing management model, IP interface management model, SNMP model and some other models into consideration. On the implementation of interior model, it discusses the data structure and the main process flow.2. After presenting the characteristics of the Manet and two types of routing protocols for wireless networks, It analyzes the network design requirements of extending the IS-IS to address the Manet, and the problems that must be taken consideration. At last, according to the idea of CDS and the MPR arithmetic,it presents a new design of IS-IS for extending the protocol to address the Manet, and analyse its efficiency.3. Discusses the testing and consummating for the IS-IS protocol in the environment of "GF 8516" core-router, making it have the characteristics of coherence, high stability, flexible operation and good performance.
