Image is an important medium in info epoch for containing abundant information. In the precondition of guaranteeing image quality, saving storage space and reducing engrossing of transmission channel become a hotspot in research. For the convenience of saving and transmitting image, image compression is widely adapted, furthermore image compression standard is establish.This paper mainly discusses the JPEG standard. A method based on wavelet transform and Mathematical morphology is proposed to be applied to compressed image processing aiming at the losses of high frequency at high compression ratio .Wavelet transform is a new branch of mathematics, which is developing rapidly in recent years. Because it gets rid of some defects of Fourier transform, Wavelet analysis method has been paid more and more attention and wildly used in various field of engineering application, especially in the image processing.Morphology Mathematical is a new developing science. It is based on strict mathematical theory. It has great effect on the theory and technology of image processing. And it has become a new theory and means of image processing.The method includes three steps: separate the ingredient of high frequency from compressed image through wavelet transform, processing the high frequency by morphology filter, composing the processed image.The experiments show the method is effective; it can improve the quality of compressed image.
