With the fast development of mobile communication, the demands of wireless location finding were newer. The E-911 location servers announced in 1999 by U.S.A. FCC are the indispensable basic function of various kinds of cellular networks, especially 3G networks. Mandatory demand of the government and market's own driver, make the upsurge of wireless orienting technology research of cellular network appeared in the world.Based on 3G networks, in this paper wireless location finding of cellular networks was researched. First, the basic principle of location estimation and the operation principle of smart antenna as the key technology of 3G were introduced. Second, the factors effecting orientation precision were described, the characteristic of channel and several criterions of orientation precision rate were discussed, channel model was simulated in various entironment. Last, a location finding system based on MS was researched. The syetem processed the signal power received by the antenna and gained the angle of arrival to find the mobile station.The system was composed of signal beam of antenna array, singnal receiver, singnal processor of location finding. In the same time the system was simulated and the conclution was analyzed. Time of arrival and angle of arrival was adopted in the singal base station mathod, and angle of arrival crossing was adopted in the two base stations mathod. The channel fading, multi-channel, none-of-light and multi-user interference were considered by the simulation in multi-environment.
