Aiming at this problem, various intelligent transportation management systems are created or in the development, and the recognition of the vehicle license is most important tache of the systems, but different to the general recognition of the printing style characters, the vehicle licen.se is general placed in outdoors and in movement status, so it is easily affected by the weather and the movement, added to the physical breakage it is more difficult to recognize, it is also the reason that the traditional arithmetic of the vehicle license recognition can hardly attain the decent resultOwing to the background above, the thesis compared and analyzed the former techniques of the character recognition comprehensively, combining the knowledge of the image processing and the pattern recognition, an improved method of template matching is advanced to the recognition of letters and numbers of the vehicle license, and the same time FCA Learning Subspace Method is introduced to the recognition of Chinese characters of the vehicle license, and ail got better effect.
