Conditional Access And Data Broadcast Services In STB Of DVB-C

With the development of the technology of DSP and broadcasting network, digital cable television is taking the place of analogy cable television for its high quality and versatile service. The MPEG –2 and DVB standard had made the digital cable network that can implements digital video service, broadband data service as well as interactive service. To implement those services we need not only support for the front-end and the network but also terminal devices to fulfill those service to users. In this article, we will talk about the design of two kinds of new and popular services in terminal devices—STB of DVB-C. The services are called Condition Access and Data Broadcasting. In the second chapter, there comes overview of STB of DVB-C including configuration of hardware and software. What we need to fulfill those services is also mentioned here. Condition Access system is now thought one of the most important technologies in digital cable television. It enables the services provider charge users for taking that service. By the way of scrambling the data, CA system entitle the users who have paid for services to take the right services. In the same time, users who did not subscribe for service cannot take it. In the third chapter we firstly introduce principle and component of CA system as well as mode to implement a CA system. Then the design of CA system in STB of DVB-C including protocol used to communicate with smartcard and software modules to fulfill a CA system in the box. Another design is the function of implementing Data Broadcast service in STB. Data Broadcast service is the service that transfers a great deal of data such as Netnews and network education services in digital cable net. It is regard as tryout of interactive services. In the forth chapter we talk about the design of the function of implementing Data Broadcasting service in detail. In the first place here is the protocols used to transfer data in Data Broadcasting service. After that design in software is laid out detailedly. In now days CA and data broadcast services are said the most popular services in digital cable network. STB of DVB-C with those function outvie the normal.
