Recently, the micro-electronic, communication and computer technique have been greatly developed. Because of the enhancement of memory technique and digital image equipment, and the popularity of Internet, people have much more image resources nowadays. But how to effectively and efficiently retrieve images has become an urgent problem. Because of the complexity of images, the traditional image retrieval techniques, which are based on text description and keyword, are not effective. So the content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has been widely researched. CBIR directly extracts image feature, and retrieval image by comparing similarity. If the method of feature extraction and similarity measure is chosen, the rest work is to retrieve most similar images in image database.In this article , it is discussed that Content-based Retrieval is one of the most important methods of query and research in Image data, and it is also the research hotspot. At same time , the concept, feature , system structure ,process ,search methods of CBIR, and classify of query interface , from of query specification are discussed .I also analyze feature extraction of Image data, search methods etc. On the base of analyzing research direction , application status and main technology of the current CBIR system . According to relative feedback theory , Input forward a single , namely by set Image degree between every image in query result and tart image , the query quality is improved.
