Manufacturing technology and machine tools are the most elementary means of production, and NC technology is kernel of advanced manufacturing technology today. It has more and more effect on aeronautics & astronautics, automobile, die and model etc., because digitalization required by those industries above is the trend of modern development.Nowadays, most five-axis NC machining centers used in manufacturing have the characters that two rotating axes rotate round two axes of the coordinate, viz. X-axis & Z-axis or Y-axis & Z-axis. Generally speaking, CAD/CAM often applied have post-processing function for those type of NC centers mentioned above. With development of NC technology and actual requirement of machine design, however, the trend of diversification of mode of motion axes of five-axis NC machining center appears. But generic CAD/CAM can't provide post-processing of specific mode of motion axes. As a result, development of post-processing program for different kinds of NC machining centers is absolutely necessary to the full use of machining center.Aimed at DMU 70V model machining center by DECKEL MAHO company in Germany of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Lab, by means of 3-D graphics coordinate transformation, on the basis of the procedure of deduction of post-processing algorithm of other mode of motion axes and detailed deducing, the paper gives the post-processing algorithm for DMU 70V model machining center. In addition, the algorithm is validated in theory and practice. The result shows that the algorithm is right and effective.Based on this algorithm and given algorithm of continuity of angle C, by means of powerful function of UG/Open GRIP, the post-processing program for cutter location files generated by UG has been developed. Key parameters in program validated in many aspects accord with the result expected.Based on post-processing program only for cutter location files by UG, post-processing modules for cutter location files by Pro/Engineer and NREC are added to the program in order to meet diversification of CAD/CAM.From machining practice, the NC program by the post-processing program can been run in the machining center to machine the part.The result from the research can be applied in the deduction of algorithm of other kinds of mode of motion axes for reference and provides clues for development of post-processing of other CAD/CAM.
