As an important aspect of multimedia, video application over Internet is faced with new opportunity and challenge. As a lot of users request high quality service, and the server needs higher performance and efficiency. All these bring new technical issues into video applications. V0D(Video On Demand) System is One of the most important application of video applications, After analyzing the architecture and request of my job, this paper proposes a large scale telecommunication business VOD System.This paper goal is to encode video file into MPEG-4, RM, WMV format, store into the distributed shared memory system, stream server encode these file and transfer into users by network, users use Media Player to decode and play it. According to the architecture of VOD System, use cluster technology and distributed network system to rebuild the business VOD System of China Tietong Guangdong Branch Co., Ltd.The main content of this paper contain:1) Study the architecture of VOD System;2) Introduce and analyze cluster and network Load balance technology;3) Analyze and realize the distributed shared network memory system.4) Introduce the means of user authentication and charging.5) Use realsever9 stream media system , distributed shared memory system and stream media server load balance technology to realize the VOD System of support thousands of users to access at one time. At last Analyze its economic benefit.6) Discuss and Analyze some technical issues, make an expectation. This paper according to the architecture of VOD System, Use clusterand network load balance technology, distributed shared memory system, user authentication and charging system to succeed to complete a large scale telecommunication business VOD System, enough to prove VOD technology have a good business prospect and huge market value.
