With the accelerating development of the market and economy, thetransportation becomes very busy and the number of various vehiclesincreases very quickly, which makes the traffic demand increase promptly andthe traffic facilities lag behind the demand. The contradiction between thecomplex composition of traffic flow and backward methods of traffic controlis becoming more and more outstanding. Above two aspects interact witheach other and lead to serious traffic jam and immeasurable negative socialinfluence. Traffic jam has become the 'bottleneck'in the development ofeconomy and society to some extent.It is not the most effective way to settle the question of traffic jam onlyby increasing the road area or the road length simply. The other key questionis to take the scientific organization and management measure to make fulluse of the existing traffic network and make the traffic flow in good order tothe furthest extent. This needs to make deep research of the trafficcharacteristics. Computer simulation is one of the most economic andeffective ways to do such research. In China, the research on traffic simulationis scattered relatively, it is often confined to solving a unitary issue and thebasic data to establish the simulation model is poor, the exploitation of thesimulation systems is nearly blank. At the same time, because of the closenessof the foreign systems, user cannot interpose in the simulating procedure andis easy to put questions forward. Meanwhile, there is much differencebetween foreign countries and China in the following aspects such as trafficcircumstances, traffic constitutions, traffic characteristics, traffic organizationand management methods, driver psychology characteristics and soon. So themodels of foreign countries cannot reflect the situation of China. As a result,developing a new generation of microscopic traffic simulation model hasbecome an urgent and important task for science and technology of ourcountry.The depict of the detailed implementation is in the third and fourth partof the article. In the third part, the development of the complex graphicinterface has been described with the existing technical means. OpenGL is aset of standard graphics library, which facilitates the road network generationand edit function. Display of the road network is by use of the display listtechnology of OpenGL. Display list can optimize the procedure performance,especially the network performance. Edit of the road network needs to useanother kind of OpenGL technology --selection mechanism.
