The Magnetorheological damper (MRD) is a new kind of devices for semi-active control. It only needs less power to keep the control systems running and provides a good kind of control device for structural vibration control. To control effectively, the semi-active intelligent control technology of structural vibration has been studied by using the MRD in this thesis. There are several models to describe the mechanical characteristic of MRD. The Bouc-Wen model of MRD is selected in the research. A control model of three-lay frame vibration control system with a MRD is established. Firstly, the resprose of the structural model under the excitation of El Centro was simulated using the Passive-Off,Passive-On and LQR control methords. Then,the semi-active intelligent control methods were investigated. Based on the theory of fuzzy control and neural network control, the semi-active fuzzy controller and neural network controller were designed and programed using the MATLAB's fuzzy control and neural network toolboxes. The vibration response of the structural model under the excitation of El Centro,Taft,Kobe seismic loads was analysed. Lastly, using the algorithms of fuzzy PID and neural network PID to control MRD, the simulating results illustrate that the control effect based on the two kinds of control algorithms is very good.
