In this paper, telepresence of target field based on OPC technology is studied deeply from two aspects—data access and graphics visualization. An OPC client application is developed to receive data from local/remote servers. According to the key data, the computer produces the virtual scene similar to the real one. On the aspect of data communication between application software and devices, OPC(OLE for process control) is used to standardize the interface protocol. In this way, applications access data from OPC servers by general interfaces, not from specified hardware drivers. The system with OPC interface is an open and flexible system. On the aspect of graphics visualization, to meet the needs of data visualization in industrial field, three-dimension computer graphics visualization of target detection based on Delphi3D is studied. The movement of virtual objects is analyzed, and a methodology to reduce the job of 3D modeling and to improve graphical quality is described. The above logic is to demonstrate the real scene realistically on PC and to offer an approach for terminal display of telepresence. In addition, the idea of establishing three-dimension graphic library is presented. The software is written in the OpenGL graphic library in Delphi environments. The graphic simulation can perform specified tasks in dangerous places (ex. nuclear facilities). During the period of research, the author had compared several different tools and methods. The experience and the method have provided foundation for further research.
