As a next generation Internet Protocol, IPv6 has been applied in a certain extent, however, there are still many factors which should be modified and improved. It will take a long time to complete the whole conversation from IPv4 to IPv6, different kind of network also has different transition strategy. In the mean time the pure IPv6 biz application is a necessary trend, which needs more experiments and related data to testify by scientific methods. Both innovation and challenge exist in the research based on the IPv6 technology.In this dissertation, after analyzing IPv6 fundamental in details, using DongHua Songjiang campus networks as the application background, we designed a next generation network based on IPv6, which used many kinds of IPv6 network technology.With the next generation campus network policy and requirement analysis,we made sure the network device:adopt the Black Diamond and Summit Series made by Extreme U.S.,and completed the threejayer network design(core, pool, connect).We designed the whole campus network based on IPv6,enable OSPFv6 in the BD6808 between core layer and pool layer;use the IPv6 technology to create a tunnel connected to school cadre at Core layer and connected to the pure IPv6 network through R920,R980;inside the campus network.we adopted the IPv6/IPv4 dual_stack,including core and pool layer's device-BD6808 which can support dual_stack and tunnel,connect layer's device-Summit48i which can support IPv6/IPv4dual_stack.We deployed IPv6/IPv4 DNS and IPv6 multicast server at the core layer too, in order to the demand of campus user visiting IPv6 or IPv4 websites at the same time and the demand of remote teaching service in the future.During the design access, network security is the most important technology matter all the time,we applied the IPsec over IPv6 and tested successfully.In details, we chose Windows and Linux to introduce IPv6 configuration judged by the usage rate and explained the common commands and methods specially; Tunnel including 6to4 etc is the most popular transition technic, the configuration for the Extreme6808 is unique; As the recognized router protocol, OSPFv6 was also testified in Extreme; How to config DNS in Windows and Linux is the necessary step during network buildup, so we particularized that and illuminated AAAA, 6A and the two OS comparatively; the Multicast experiment was also tested in Extreme, with the Windows 2003 Enterprise Server Edition as the Server and Client's operating system; Network security is the most important part of this paper, we analyzed the IPsec structure, protocol arithmetic, realized pattern, Security Association and Policy, then put IPsec over IPv6 into practice in Windows 2003 too.During the whole course of building the next generation campus network based on IPv6, we always paid attention to clean up test data, analyze proof matter, sum up final results.
