A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) consists of a collection of wireless mobile nodes that are capable of communicating with each other without the use of a network infrastructure or any centralized administration. MANET is an emerging research area with practical applications. However, wireless MANET is particularly vulnerable due to its fundamental characteristics. At Present, research on security in MANET is still in its infancy. This paper introduces the foundational conception, features, security requirements and security threats of mobile Ad-Hoc networks, introduces identity-based cryptography and threshold secret sharing, then discusses the security aspects of key management and access authentication in detail. The main contributions of this paper include:1. On the basis of the feathers of Ad-Hoc networks, an efficient distributed key management based on identity-based cryptography is proposed including master key distribution, private key abstract, master key sharing refreshing and master key sharing redistribution. The most significant advantage of our scheme lies in the enhancement of security while reducing the communication overhead and resource consumption and saving network bandwidth.2. In this paper, an access authentication based on 802. 1x is proposed. The process of the access authentication and the data packet formats in every phase are particularly described. In addition, the security of this scheme is analyzed.
