With the development of wireless and broadband IP telecommunication technologies, multimedia communication progresses rapidly and lots of video services come to the stage. To meet this demand, the concept of Media Object is introduced into MPEG-4 system that make interactivity possible. And improving the error resilience of video transport becomes more and more important.In this dissertation, we describe the structure of MPEG-4 system with an emphasis put on VOP codec. Based on it, we table a proposal how to shift and optimize the MPEG-4 SP decoder to the ARM7TDMI. In addition, we go deep into the research of the technology about error correcting code for video transmission. Based on the MPEG-4, some available methods are presented then. Compressed video can be transmitted efficiently through wireless channel by these methods.
