In the nineties of the twentieth century, with the imperious requirements of Office Automation, family electrization and wide frequency band communications, indoor optical wireless communication techniques got people's attention. Indoor optical wireless transmission is mainly classified as point-to-point links and diffuse links. Diffuse links is convenient to use, but it's power efficiency is low, while point-to-point link design minimizes multipath distortion, but it do require aiming of the transmitter and receiver. In 2002, A.H.Khanshan proposed a beam selection scheme, which improved transmission performance of diffuse systems. In field of optimal path selection scheme, this paper made a further research on the present situation. Using the idea of CDMA, an optimal path selection scheme is presented in this paper. The scheme uses OOC as transceiver identification code and selects transmitter beam selection according to receiver correlation value. Link architecture and transmission modeling of our system are described, and work process are also presented. Comparing with quasi-diffuse systems, We analyze the performance improvement of our system with beam selection under the conditions of ideal channel and multipath channel with background noise. Simulation results with MATLAB are addressed, too. Substitution of an angle diversity receiver for a wide FOV receiver can improve the system's performance, so we improve the system scheme with beam selection only in initiator. We use several elements both in initiator and recipient, which realize beam selection together. Under the condition of the existence of shot noise induced by fluorescent illumination, we compare the improved systems to initiator beam selection systems, and the simulation results show that improved systems have better performance of combating background noise.
