Research And Implementation Of Tibetan Office Based On The Internationalization/Localization Frame In OpenOffice.org

With the development of the information technology, Tibetan information processing has been paid more attention for it's essentiality in Chinese politics, economy, culture and the other sides of society. As an important component of Tibetan information processing, it has great meaning to develop Tibetan office, which should accord with the Tibetan custom. In this paper the key techniques of implementing the Internationalization and Localization frames were studied and analyzed deeply according to the theory of developing International software, and discussed how to implement Tibetan office based on OpenOffice.org. This paper finished the work of demand analysis, designed a Tibetan transliteration algorithm, and implemented it in the OpenOffice.org.According to the actuality of software developing and Tibetan information processing, this paper put forward a target to design a Tibetan office being up to the demand of Internationalization. This paper introduced the basic concept and key techniques of Internationalization and Localization firstly, dicussed the character encoding technology, and analyzed the influence of Character Encoding to the software implement. On the basis of international theory, OpenOffice.org was analyzed deeply, including its system structure, Internationalization, and Localization frames. UNO and XML technologies were emphasized. It's necessary to solve the following problems when implemented Tibetan office: Tibetan Encoding Scheme, Localization processing, Tibetan boundary analysis, syllable complement and Tibetan transliteration. Tibetan transliteration was an important tool to research Tibetan culture and communicates terminologies. This paper described the basic theory of Tibetan transliteration, analyzed and compared the current transliteration technologies, and designed an algorithm on the basis of Tibetan basic character set and extension A. By defining pre-composed characters, Tibetan can be converted from complex script into simple script, which makes the process of transliterating easier and reduces the algorithm complexity.Finally, this paper provides a detailed summary toward those research work done, and give a prospect to the next step.
