| The development of chemical website not only provides abundant chemical information and resources, but also offers the advantage for science communication that spans time and space.Based on introduction and analysis of chemical website at home and abroad, the pattern of construction of integrated university chemical website is proposed. The website with the characteristic of university chemical education, function of chemical knowledge transmission and academic communication is established successfully by software of Dreamweaver MX 2004, Fireworks MX 2004, Flash MX 2004 and Access and so on. The thought and process of construction and its effect are discussed in detail from the total thought of design, system framework structure, and chemical information architecture and so on in this paper. The content includes as follows:1. The design of system framework and function on the website is accomplished, and chemical resources, department of applied chemistry and chemical base for engineering course are included.2. The trends of chemical education, development of chemical education and teaching resource online are provided in the item of chemical education. Especially atomic structure, molecular structure, crystal structure and the theory of chemical bond which were researched by our group in many years are introduced mainly in our special resource.3. Some typical reviews and development frontier in disciplines are introduced in our chemical frontier. And the source of chemical frontier is discussed, too.4. Chemistry and materials, chemistry and biology, chemistry and environment and chemistry and life are included in the column of applied chemistry, and substantial related literature and information are provided respectively.5. Some frequently useful chemical resources like chemical software and chemical resource navigation are provided in resources online, and search engine, teaching software and so on are included.6. The design of message board online is finished by ASP, Access and Dreamweaver MX 2004 in the column of communication. Total web pages are over 200, and pages related to chemical resources are over 130. The pictures which are collected, processed, created and optimized are up to 200. So the website has the artistic and appreciatory effect.
