B/S development mode was thought to replace C/S pattern, because B/S contains many advantage to C/S. But B/S didn't come up to people's expectations, but goes into combiningC/S.B/S has the advantage of uniform platform, simple client, and simple client's operation, which makes B/S suitable to the situation like electronic business. CVS has the advantage of stronger interactivity, safer access mode, faster processing speed. B/S's advance and C/S's maturity make hard to make choice. Usually we take the combine mode, the combining principles are: B/S answer for the situation that wide operating spot, frequency functionary change, information release. C/S answer for the situation that higher request of security and interactivity, fixed operating spot, or processing a mass of data. They're combined by database or Web Service.We firstly put forward a closer combining mode, we call Desktop/Server mode. Namely Server is still Web Server, client is not HTML page, but Desktop Software System. In client's eyes, they're using C/S system, but actually it more like B/S system. To doing so, we define a new Web page that accord with XML specification, we call it WED document, which supports client and server script, and Web Service. Client browser request and explain WED document, and generate desktop software system.
