On the basis of embedded system architecture, many researches about the components of the Embedded Record System over Network have been done, which includes hardware devices, some new technologies and protocols. Then the solution and implementation of the Embedded Record System over Network in the local area network environment is given. The client of the Record System based on PC is implemented, and the server of the Embedded Record System based on ARM embedded system processor is implemented too.The key technologies of the Embedded Record System over Network include embedded OS, network interface, data buffer scheme, ATAPI, etc. The client of the Record System connects with the listening server by tree-way handshake firstly. After accepting the ACK, it packets the ATAPI commands and data, then sends them to the server, The ATAPI commands and data are accepted and unpacked by the server. The server sends the ATAPI commands to the recorder. To assure the success of the recording process, the data are cached to buffer and the producer/consumer strategy is used to manage the buffer.The hardware is based on the Samsung's ARM microprocessor. A CPLD chip is used to control the interface of the network and IDE. The Embedded OS is ported to this new ARM platform, and the network driver and the ATAPI driver are added to the OS. The record demon program is coded and the WEB manager GUI is designed in the embedded server. The client system including the GUI interface, MMC driver and the network system is implemented with the Object-Oriented technology in Visual C++ IDE.The test results show that the embedded record system over network is implemented successfully.
