Pulse compression of linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal is a widely used technique in radar applications. It can improve the range resolution.Based on the primary parameters of linear frequency modulation, the dissertation analysis the effects between these parameters and pulse compression, especially the effect upon the peak side-lobe ratio (PSLR). It studies on the evaluation technique of large time-bandwidth linear frequency modulation. The main content contains three parts:Firstly, to be familiar with the fundamental theories of radar signals, the features of pulse compression and the validity of classical radar signal theories when they are applied to the linear frequency modulation signal is analyzed. The method to realize pulse compression is also discussed here.In the second section, the effects of these parameters producted as direct digital are proposed through theoretic analysis and computer simulation. And the influence of two or more coexistent errors on the pulse compression is analyzed. Based on theoretic analysis, computer simulation is performed. The computer simulation proves the correctness of my analysis. Finally, after the development process of the program summarized is illustrated, a progeam to evaluate the performance is implemented. The program can demonstrate the output waveforms of different radar signals.Besides the main work described above, the solutions of some practical issues are proposed, and further improvements are discussed. The results can be used as a guide to the design and evaluation of signal sources.
