As the network scale expands, the traditional policy of network management becomes more and more difficult to meet the requirements of network evolvement. Thus the standalone network management technology becomes one of the efficient solutions to the problems of traditional network management. Therefore, how to integrate standalone management modules and monitor operation status of network has been the fundamental and key technology in the implementation of standalone network management system.After analyzing the basic concepts of standalone network management, this thesis presents key technology and policy for the implementation of standalone network management system, and its main achievements are as follows:1. As there is not any efficient cooperation mechanism in present standalone network management system, which can not meet the requirements of network management in WAN (Wide Area Network), the design and implementation of ARF (Application Registration File) is put forward in this thesis to integrate standalone network management system. In addition, the definition, format, content and processing program of ARF are also presented. Thus the standalone management modules can be loaded and uninstalled dynamically, and the network management system can provide uniform management view for the users of network management.2. A new algorithm-STA (Statistics of Trouble Algorithm) used for fault management is put forward in this thesis. STA can adjust the polling objects and polling interval self-adaptively by using the schemes of self-adaptivity, dynamical adjustment of group of agents, fault tolerance, and thus can choose the interval of polling reasonably, which can not be solved in the traditional management system.3. The definition, format and processing program of alarm items used for fault management are also given in this thesis. Thus current and log information accessed by STA can be classified and displayed in the form of alarm items.4. In the background of the design and implementation of network management system-Aladdin for CERNET (China Education and Research Network), we have used the integration policy of ARF, STA and alarm items. Aladdin can provide uniform management view for the users of network management, make the standalone management modules be loaded or uninstalled dynamically, access the status of network equipment self-adaptively and dynamically, and display fault information accessed by STA in the form of alarm items. Furthermore, Aladdin has already been used in CERNET NOC(Network Operation Center).In the end, we summarize the main achievements of this thesis and show theapplication of them to CERNET.
