MPEG-1 LAYER3 describes the 3th Layers digital audio algorithms of the MPEG organization, and it has high compression and excellent audio quality.The music that compressed in this audio format has been very polular on the Internet. So a new consumer electronic product-portable mp3 player has huge market value now. But most of the mp3 decoder is of defined-used ASIC,so there is lack of flexibility and upgrade.On the basis of above background,we advance that the designing and realizing of Fixed-point DSP Based MP3 Decode System. The goal of the thesis was to establish a hardware system which use a popular digital signal processor to decode the mp3 music.The codec technology of the MPEG series ISO/IEC standards are outlined in the thesis. The principle and structure of the decoding system are described and analyzed. First we introduce the hardware system of MP3 decoder,The system uses a digital signal processor TMS320VC5416 as a key device with a complex programmable logic device EPM7128 and a large memory , and use the serial port to communicate with the PC,the realize the realtime decoding by programming DSP software. The decoder system can dowmload data from PC, store the MP3 data in the flash memory and output the music from the CODEC .Also we can decode other audio format by changing the DSP software on this system.
