With the rapid development of database technology and broad application of database management system, people accumulate more and more data. Large amount of important information are hided behind the booming data, which expects analysis of higher levels at people's expectations in view of better utilization of these data. The existing database system can efficiently realize the functions of data input, inquiry, and statistics etc., but cannot find out the relationships and rules of the data, nor can it predict the development trend based on the existing data. The lack of knowledge of database mining has led to the phenomena of "data explosion and knowledge poverty".Database mining is motivated by the decision support problem faced by most large retail organizations. Progress in bar-code technology has made it possible for retail organizations to collect and store massive amounts of sales data, referred to as the basket data. We can get very important information for sales or production through database mining in certain pattern, so as to improve sales/production efficiency and reduce costs for maximum commercial benefit. The application of database mining technology can promote enterprises' ability of service enhancement, and thus is of essential operation significance for this study. On the other hand, the pose, development and final formation of any science and technology theory cannot be separated from verification of practical application. Only with continuous detection and resolution of problems in practical application, can the development of science and technology be properly directed and sophisticated gradually. In this respect, this thesis is also of certain theoretical investigation value. The thesis discusses the following two patterns: association rules and sequential pattern. It also presents a program for resolving the problem " to find large item set", and explains the implementation procedures of the two patterns by flowchart in several realization algorithm.
