This paper introduces research and implementation of Video image compression system based on DSP technology. The design of image compression system bases on the TMS320C5402 DSP chip of TI are described. This device combines the Video image compression and data transmission, it can directly convert the video Analog signal to digital signal, and combines the code algorithm , then send the processed image data to PC by USB bus.The technology of Video image compression acquires to convert the video Analog signal to digtal signal, and reduce the large data about image by the compression algorithm. The two methord of Video image compression implementation: (l)based on PC, the image data is compressed by the software in PC or processed image card of PC; (2) based on this single device, the image process based on DSP chip, not depended on PC software. This device is little, facility and no complex operation. So a general methord for DSP and CPLD to acquire and compress images is presented, the design of image compression system and key techniques are described. It combines the code algorithm with the feature of pipline to optimaze the software program.The DSP processor can meet requirements of large data, algorithm,low bitrate digital video communication systems. This paper introduces the general method for TMS320C5402 and CPLD to acquire and compress images. This design of image compression system based on DSP, it combines the JPEG algorithm to process the single image, then act the single image fastly , the system has a practical value for MJPEG algorithm. In future, this system also can meet requirements for other code algorithm.
