With the development and application of computer, communication, control and network technology, it is a tendency that control system will be all-digital, all-networked, intelligent. State monitoring system is a control system based on a great deal of acquired data. In the monitoring system, reliable data is the foundation for analysis and diagnosis of monitored objects. Data storage and management is an important part of the monitoring system. There is higher request of data storage, share and communication for the development of the state monitoring system and database is an indispensable technology for data storage and maintenance.As far as data are concerned, state monitoring is the process that data are processed several times before the information of the monitored objects is acquired. In order to optimize the data storage and data communication, and improve the real-time of the monitoring system, a method that data are stored through 3-layer databases structure and black database servers is put forward. Monitoring data are stored layer by layer, and the database in the lower layer serves data processing in the upper layer. The black database sever is a computer system without HMI(human and machine interface) and it runs in the field. State data are stored and managed in the black database server automatically. Black database server is in the middle layer of the system, and is the hinge of the system because all kinds of data are stored or transmitted through the server. The 3-layer database storing structure is used in the new hydroelectric generator vibration and swing state monitoring system. For the concrete functions of black database server in the system, the realization of the black database server, the design of state database, data storage and data communication are discussed in detail in the thesis.
