Based on studying and organizing the relative materials, this paper involves in thefollowing three topics, the establishment of real-time video grabbing system, detecting the moving objects under a static background, tracking the moving objects under an arbitrary.On the research of the establishment of real-time video grabbing system, we researched the constitution of hardware and software of video grabbing system, and two key problems of the system is solved. Asynchronous double buffer grabbing is used to solve the problem of real-time grabbing. After converting the format of processed image data, the data may be saved as AVI format files.On the research of the motion detection under a static background, firstly we researched three main algorithms of motion detection and analyzed advantages and drawbacks of these algorithms. Secondly, we proposed an improved algorithm based on Kim's motion detection algorithm. Comparing the results of experiment of Kim's and the improved algorithm, the experimenting results of the improved algorithm is better than Kim's and used less than Kim's. Finally, a model of motion detection-weighting matching based on frame-difference image is presented after summarizing the improved algorithm.On the research of object tracking, firstly we researched several main object features and matching algorithms. Secondly we researched the Mean-Shift Algorithm (MSA) based on object feature of color histogram and proposed an improved algorithm based on MSA. Comparing the results of experiment of MSA and the improved algorithm, the experimenting results of the improved algorithm is better than MSA because of using the spatial information of objects. The improved algorithm increased reliability and validity of tracking results.
