Object tracking on real-time is one of the hottest research points in computer vision. With the raising of public safe requirement, the video supervisory system gets the extensive application in many aspects in nation life, such as security surveillance, robot navigation, human-computer interface, military application, and so on.Now most of object tracking systems on real-time are based on personal computer, we catch image materials and operate them in order to reach our target. Therefore a computer's CPU not only captures image materials but also executes Windows Operating System; these procedures often cause the huge loading of the CPU and lower efficiency of the system; however the PC is bulky and high consuming power, so it is not suitable for Stand-alone systems. We combine the TI TMS320DM642 EVM with CCS software system to be the research developing platform to design an object tracking system which is suitable for Stand-alone systems.This thesis is made up of the following parts:First, I introduce the development condition of video supervisory system, at the same time make briefly introduction about the intelligent technology of video supervisory system.Secondly, there is a description of the whole designed system, including the main parts of the related hardware architecture and the flow chart of the system software realization.Thirdly, I introduce DM642 and explain the reason we use it. And then, we introduce the hardware and software platform based on ICETEK-DM642-PCI, this ensures that we can realize this system.Then, I introduce the existing technology of movement detection briefly, and specify how to do some preprocessing work on the detected binary image, so that the binary image will be more suitable to be segmented and tracked.After that, it is the procedure of the segmentation and tracking of the moving target, the main contents of which is the description of the methods that we have used in the segmentation and tracking technology and the results of the experiments are given. In order to meet the real-time requirement of this system, a movement estimation tracking method based on block-matching is designed.Then I introduce the characters of the chip of DM642 and the main reasons for using it for video processing. The emulator ICETEK-DM642-PCI is also introduced, and the hardware and software platforms for the project are built, which provide the technology of the whole system.And the realization of coding for the single objection tracking system is described. The main content is how to set your DSP, and what you should do about the important settings before compiling to improve the speed of data processing.Finally, I summarized the system's function, usage and give some instructions for further work.
