The master-slave system includes PC and digital signal processor. Making use of the high-speed of PCI bus's ability to realize high-speed communication between master and slave system, the performance of the whole system is enhanced largely. This project embodies fully the agility of PC and the speediness of DSP. Use it we can reduce analysis time enhance real-time, the result of signal processing is easily to displayed and recorded rapidly.The whole designing thinking are described in this paper, including the design of PCI bus interface, DSP bootload, communication between DSP and host, device driver and so on.This article describes the design of a PCI expansion card build around the TI TMS320VC5402 fixed-point DSP. The whole course: DSP receives the data from UART and process them, then the data are put into memory. When the data are saved full, the hardware send out a break to host. Host read the data in memory through PCI9052 after it responds the break. The expansion card consists of several functional units. The first is ;the second is the memory interface composed of a 512K 16bit FLASH and a 128K 16bit static RAM program booting memory. The third is the interface between DSP and PCI, which is realized with TI PCI9052 PCI Bridge. The PCI9052 provides direct slave PCI functions by interfacing with TMS320VC5402 HPI (host port interface).The device driver development toolkit (VtoolsD) and the design method of device driver programmer based on PCI are introduced briefly in this paper. It can be presented the device driver programmer based on PCI-Bridge developed with VtoolsD has the advantage of quick empolder, good portability, strong versatility.
