At the beginning of this paper, we introduce the Third Generation Mobile Communication System: IMT-2000 simply, and study the main technologies on WCDMA and cdma2000, two main projects in IMT.RSPC. Efficient power control is of great importance in the design of high-capacity cellular radio CDMA system. So we study the power control technology deep of CDMA system, and give an adaptive-step power control (ASPC)algorithm of CDMA system.The ASPC algorithm is based on a modification of the transmitted power update step size. Compared with other algorithms, it's advantage lies in the saving of frequency resource because the transmission of instruction just need 1 bit. Simulation results show that the algorithm has better adaptation for the change of power and can lower average outage percentage effectively and faster convergence speed than the fixed-step algorithm.
