Product's rapidly and automatically creative design lays the basis for enterprise to compete with others in the worldwide market and to satisfy market requirements which change rapidly and frequently. Taking the 3D design software, SolidWorks, as the platform, using the second-development method of the SolidWorks and VC++ , this paper studies 3D virtual creative mechanical design system. The main work is as follows: automatic identification of symbol scheme on the mechanical system, spatial layout of the 3D virtual mechanical, automatic produce of the virtual entity, motion simulation of the 3D virtual mechanism etc.According to creative mechanism combination theory, this paper presents an automatic identification method for symbol scheme based on basic mechanism. With this method, many kinds of information of complex mechanism may be automatically identified, such as types and number of basic mechanisms, all sorts of combination patterns of basic mechanisms including series, parallel and hybrid, as well as input and output relationship etc. This method put forward in this paper lays the foundation for embodying symbol scheme into three-dimensional entity, at the same time, it also makes condition for computer aided conceptual design of complex mechanical system based on basic mechanisms.Different from the traditional layout problem, there exists a certain input and output connection relation among basic mechanisms composing the machine system, so this kind of layout has its particularity and complexity. Based on the results of the automatic identification for symbol scheme, the connection relation of basic mechanisms composing machine system is analyzed in this paper firstly. Then the layout model of three kinds of connection relation is presented. At last the valid spatial layout optimization algorithm of complex machine system is constructed adopting adaptive genetic algorithm.Using object oriented method and second-development environment of 3D platform, this paper models 3D entity for every mechanism and locates them in the special location to realize assembly and motion simulation of complex mechanical system.In the end, taking the device of high speed fastener battery as an example, analyzes its whole creative design progress. Do the work from symbol identification to machinery design, motion simulation and virtual assemble automation. These verify that the method mentioned in this paper is validity and feasibility to the creative design of the product.
